Supervised by seasoned clinicians, our bachelor and advanced-level students pursuing mental health licensures deliver therapeutic self-help tools. These encompass cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family psychoeducation, trauma-informed care, applied behavior therapy, and more.

The Journey to Healing Wellness Center offers evidence-based education, outreach programs, and therapeutic services for families dealing with trauma related to grief, loss, and everyday life experiences. Our confidential and professional in-person and telehealth services support healing and personal development for children, adolescents, and adults facing various mental health concerns.
For those in the Metro Detroit area, we welcome you to visit our office, while our telehealth services extend to individuals across Michigan. When you reach out, our staff will guide you through a simple process to schedule an initial consultation, ensuring personalized and compassionate care.

Family Therapy
Designed to help families improve communication, resolve conflicts, and develop healthy coping mechanisms to strengthen the family unit.

- Initial Consultation: The therapist will meet with the whole family to understand the key concerns, and family dynamics, and set goals for improving communication and resolving conflicts.

- Active Participation: Family members are encouraged to actively contribute to shaping therapy goals and participate in exercises to promote family unity.
Couples Therapy
Focused on resolving communication issues and enhancing intimacy, couples therapy equips partners with tools for better listening, compromise, and emotional connection.

- Initial Consultation: The first session gathers relationship background and outlines goals, whether to improve communication, rebuild trust, or manage conflict.
- Individual Conversations: To ensure both partners’ voices are heard, the therapist may hold one-on-one sessions with each partner during the therapy process.

Yoga & Meditation Therapy
A holistic approach integrating yoga postures, breathing exercises, and guided imagery to center the mind, body, and spirit, promoting emotional well-being.

- First Session (Intake): The first session is an intake, where the therapist gathers background information, explores current concerns, and sets goals. In children’s therapy, parents may be asked to join part of the intake session.
- In-Person Sessions: Please arrive on time and respect confidentiality. Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes.
- Virtual and Phone Sessions: For virtual or phone sessions, ensure a quiet, private environment with a stable connection. Confidentiality must be maintained just as it is in person.
Therapy for Children & Adolescents (Ages 4–20)
Our therapy sessions provide a safe space for young people to express and manage their emotions, whether they’re dealing with grief, anxiety, academic stress, or other life challenges. Sessions typically last 40 to 60 minutes.
What to expect
Our child and adolescent therapy includes Parent Support Time to keep you informed and involved.
- Parent Support Time: Scheduled at least once a month to discuss progress, new coping skills, and any concerns. Parents may be invited to join sessions when necessary.
- Children’s Sessions: Children typically attend sessions independently to explore their emotions in a private, safe space. Parents may be involved for younger children or when needed for family dynamics.
- Additional Consultations: Parents can schedule extra consultations to address ongoing concerns.
Clinical Grief Consultation for Youth, Adults, and Families
We offer grief support across all age groups, assisting clients in processing loss and finding strength through life’s challenges. Together, we explore your pain and joys, unravel the roots of your struggles, and help you grow through grief.
What to expect

HOW TO ENROLL IN THERAPY?
Step 1: ELIGIBILITY
- Ensure that you or a member of your family is eligible for therapeutic services with our agency.
- Please send your identification and health insurance card for each patient who would like services.
- You can text identification and insurance cards to our secure portal at 313-731-2871.
- Make sure to include your name and email address. Alternatively, you can email them to therapy@2jhinc.org
- 3. Our billing team will send you an email notifying you of approval or denial within 48 hours.
- 4. If you are approved, you will move on to step 2. If you are denied, you may be eligible to receive services through our scholarship program, and you can inquire about that option at that time.
Step 2: COMPLETING CONSENT FOR TREATMENT DOCUMENTS
1. You will receive a welcome email from therapy@j2hinc.org and a welcome email from our secure portal system, Therapy Notes.
2. You will have a series of documents that need to be completed to receive treatment.
Step 3: PROCESSING AND SCHEDULING
1. After you complete your documents, you will receive an email confirming that your documents have been received.
2. A member of our team will then contact you to schedule your intake appointment.
Step 4: FIRST APPOINTMENT: INTAKE APPOINTMENT
1. An intake assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of your mental health, considering your past and present clinical treatments, medications, and concerns. This information will help your therapist develop a treatment plan for you.
