Wellness Check-In
A Brief Space to Pause, Process, and Get Support
Sometimes you may not be looking for ongoing therapy, but you still need a safe space to talk through what is happening, sort through your thoughts, and get support with what to do next.
Journey to Healing’s Wellness Check-In is a 30-minute virtual session with a trauma-informed mental health professional. It is designed to provide brief emotional support, practical coping tools, and guidance based on what you are experiencing in the moment.
A Wellness Check-In is not an ongoing therapy session and does not provide a mental health diagnosis or long-term treatment plan.

- Identify and name emotions
- Explore current stressors or concerns
- Recognize patterns that may be affecting your well-being
- Practice grounding or mindfulness techniques
- Learn breathing or relaxation strategies
- Explore emotional regulation skills
- Identify healthy coping strategies
- Mindfulness Strategies
- Better understand how stress may be showing up in your mind and body

- Identify practical next steps
- Determine whether additional support or ongoing therapy may be beneficial
Your provider may also offer a brief, non-diagnostic review of your current emotional wellness to help identify areas that may need additional attention or support.
The goal is not to solve everything in 30 minutes. The goal is to give you a supportive space to pause, gain some clarity, and leave with something practical you can use.

What are the benefits of a Wellness Check-In?
Sometimes simply having intentional space to slow down and identify what you are experiencing can help you respond to a situation more effectively.
A Wellness Check-In may help you:
Reduce emotional overwhelm
Talking through what you are experiencing can help you organize your thoughts, identify emotions, and determine what needs your attention first.
Build emotional awareness
Learning to recognize and name emotions can strengthen self-awareness and make it easier to understand what you may need in the moment.
Develop practical coping skills
Your provider may introduce strategies for grounding, stress management, emotional regulation, mindfulness, breathing, or other coping needs.
Work through a current challenge
A brief check-in can provide space to slow down, think through a situation, and identify practical next steps rather than waiting until emotions become more difficult to manage.
Support healthier family communication
Family Wellness Check-Ins can create space for parents, caregivers, and children to discuss emotions, current challenges, and ways they can better support one another.
Identify when more support may be needed
A Wellness Check-In can also help you recognize when a concern may require ongoing therapy or another level of mental health support.
Can I schedule a Wellness Check-In even if I am not in therapy?
Yes. You do not have to be enrolled in ongoing therapy with Journey to Healing to schedule a Wellness Check-In.
This service can be helpful for someone who needs brief support or is unsure whether ongoing therapy is the right next step.
What happens after my Wellness Check-In?
That depends on what you need.
You may leave your session with coping strategies to practice, recommendations for managing a current concern, or ideas for additional support.
If your provider believes you could benefit from ongoing therapy or another service, they can discuss those options and possible next steps with you.
You Don't Have to Wait Until Things Feel Extremely Stressful
Support does not always have to begin with a crisis or a commitment to ongoing therapy.
Sometimes you simply need a place to pause, talk through what is happening, learn a new way to cope, or figure out what you need next.
A Wellness Check-In gives you that space.
